INTRODUCTION

Business Intelligence (BI)

Business intelligence (BI) is a broad category of application and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing and providing access to data to help enterprise users make better business decisions.

Bi application include the activities of decision support systems, query and reporting, online analytical processing (OLAP), statistical analysis, forecasting and data mining.

Business Object (BO)

A Business object is a representation of a thing active in the business domain, including at least its business name and definition, attributes, behaviour, relationships and constraints.

A business object may be a person, place or concept

The representation may be in a natural language, a   modelling language, or a programming language.

BO in Sap

Business object technology and business object programing are based on the concept of business objects.

Real world objects for example an employee or a sales order are modelled as business objects in business application systems, such as the R/3 systems.

Client Tier

In client tier SAP BO is the only tier that consist application which interact with end user for administration, publishing and viewing of reports and other objects.

Application Tier

It is the tier that hosts server side components to handle user requests from client tier and pass to intelligence tier of underlying system for processing.

Processing tier

It interacts directly with database and generates reports.

DATA tier

It is made up of database that feed data used for reports.

Intelligence tier

• It is heart of business objects enterprise system.
• It handles user requests, navigates them to appropriate server, maintain security information, audit information and stores report instances.
